A transient pod of Orca arrived in the bay mid-July. While on board the m/v Seabird (National Geographic), July 9th, passengers were in awe and thrilled beyond belief to spend over an hour watching 15 whales. They were heading north in the bay possibly on a mission to hunt harbor seals.
While it is not unusual to see Orcas in Glacier Bay during the summer, you really have to be in the right place at the right time, so . . . . not too many visitors get this up close and personal!
